Patients Benefit from New, On-Site Hemodialysis Service
Fresenius Kidney Care, a leading provider of dialysis services and support, has partnered with skilled nursing and rehabilitation provider Dove Healthcare to bring on-site hemodialysis to locations in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire.
The first of its kind in the Chippewa Valley, this on-site service provides numerous benefits for patients undergoing dialysis while residing at Dove Healthcare - West Eau Claire on Truax Blvd and Dove Healthcare - Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls.
Dove Healthcare's Regional Director of Operations Jeremy Kiley commented, "This is an initiative we have been exploring and pursuing for many years, and so we are very happy to see it finally come to fruition. We recognize that increasing value and continuously improving quality are essential to maintaining excellence and sustaining our leadership role in the post-acute and long-term care industry."
Fresenius Kidney Care provides a registered nurse and dialysis technicians to deliver on-site hemodialysis at both Dove Healthcare locations, as well as coordinating with a social worker, dietitian, and nephrologist/medical director to help manage the care of each patient. Upon discharge from Dove Healthcare, patients may return to their previous off-site dialysis clinic, in accordance with their treatment preferences.
Dove Healthcare - Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center Administrator Cayci Wathke shared, "This on-site service will improve quality of life by helping our patients reclaim their day. It is often a stressful experience traveling to and from all-day dialysis appointments off-site. We want our patients undergoing dialysis to experience improved rest and recovery time and have their medications, therapy, and meals remain on a consistent, personalized schedule every day."
Dove Healthcare - West Eau Claire Administrator Kendall Rosemeyer of Eau Claire added, "Not only is it stressful, but transportation can also be quite expensive. In addition, this on-site service will decrease community exposure to illnesses and free up time for visiting with friends and family, engaging with hobbies, attending activities, and more."
In Chippewa Falls, extra office space underwent renovations for the on-site treatment area opening April 5, and the Eau Claire location converted three rooms to accommodate the space opening April 12. Initially, each treatment area can support up to six patients with a recliner chair, home dialyzing equipment, and a flat-screen TV with headphones.
