Our History
Since we purchased the Center of Care in 1997 from Eau Claire County and began operating as Dove Healthcare, we have strategically grown within a 60-mile radius of Eau Claire.
Today, Dove Healthcare is comprised of six skilled nursing facilities (Dove Healthcare – Bloomer, Osseo, Rice Lake, South Eau Claire, West Eau Claire, and Regional Vent Center); five assisted living residences (Dove Healthcare – Barron Assisted Living, Orchard Hills Assisted Living, Osseo Assisted Living, and Rutledge Home); one physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapy company; and a non-profit community foundation. Our talented and diverse workforce of approximately 800 employees serves an average of 400 residents and patients everyday.

Dove Healthcare - Orchard Hills Assisted Living
Dove Healthcare - Orchard Hills Assisted Living opened inside Dove Healthcare - West Eau Claire in 1999. In 2005, we completed construction of a 26-unit assisted living residence attached to Dove Healthcare – West Eau Claire. A second expansion in 2008 brought total capacity of the assisted living residence to 39 studio apartments. In 2023, after relocating the recreation center, the space was renovated and the final capacity is now 40 studio apartments.
Dove Healthcare - Rutledge Home
Dove Healthcare - Rutledge Home was added as a third affiliate in 2004. Originally a 92-bed skilled nursing facility in Chippewa Falls, in 2007 operations were merged with Dove Healthcare - Regional Vent Center. Today, Dove Healthcare – Rutledge Home has the capacity to serve 42 residents with assisted living and memory care services.
Dove Healthcare - Regional Vent Center
Dove Healthcare - Regional Vent Center, a skilled nursing facility with 31 state-certified ventilator beds, was purchased as a fourth affiliate in late 2005. Located on County Hwy I in Chippewa Falls, there is an accessible indoor passage to HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital and Marshfield Clinic.

Dove Healthcare - South Eau Claire opened in September 2009 on Mall Drive in Eau Claire. The 50-bed skilled nursing facility specializes in skilled nursing, post-hospital, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and end-of-life care.

Dove Healthcare - Rice Lake opened May 2016 on Bear Paw Avenue. The 50-bed skilled nursing facility specializes in skilled nursing, post-hospital, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and end-of-life care.
Dove Healthcare - Barron Assisted Living
Dove Healthcare - Barron moved its skilled nursing facility operation to Dove Healthcare - Rice Lake in May 2016. Dove Healthcare - Barron Assisted Living (formerly Maplecroft Assisted Living) features 35 apartments and continues to operate at its current location on Memorial Drive.
Dove Healthcare - Osseo & Osseo Assisted Living
Dove Healthcare - Osseo moved from Eighth Street in Osseo to a new 40-bed skilled nursing facility with attached 24-unit assisted living residence on Ridge View Road in December 2016. In 2019, an expansion project added 16 new one-bedroom apartments to the assisted living residence. The skilled nursing facility specializes in skilled nursing, post-hospital, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and end-of-life care. The assisted living residence also offers the option of senior independent living.
Dove Healthcare - Bloomer & Bloomer Assisted Living
Dove Healthcare - Bloomer moved from Thompson Street in Bloomer to a new 40-bed skilled nursing facility on Duncan Road in January 2017. An expansion project in October 2018 added 10 private rooms and additional dining room space. The 50-bed facility specializes in skilled nursing, post-hospital, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and end-of-life care. In fall 2021, a groundbreaking took place for the addition of an assisted living residence. In September 2022, the first tenants moved into the 24, one-bedroom apartments with access to the therapy gym and hair salon at the attached skilled nursing and rehabilitation center.
Transitions Rehabilitation
Transitions Rehabilitation consists of almost 50 licensed therapists who provide services to all Dove Healthcare locations, as well as contracted services to other area assisted living residences. Our team consists of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists / speech therapists, physical therapist assistants, certified occupational therapy assistants, and respiratory therapists. We have invested heavily in our employees, therapy gyms, and equipment to ensure our patients receive the most advanced and progressive treatment.
Dove Healthcare Community Foundation
Established in 2017, the Dove Healthcare Community Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to making a difference in the communities we serve. With a special interest in advancing the healthcare workforce, as the Foundation grows, so will our ability to support programs that aim to enhance the lives of those 55+, including Veterans and those with a chronic or complex health condition or rehabilitative need.
